This looks exactly like the beef stew my mother has been doing for ages. My family is Irish, not Welsh, but the stew is nontheless fantastic. Serve in warm crusty bread and a pile of butter.
This dish also freezes and if you take the heat just before the potatoes are soft (while still have their corners). We spoon plastic containers and have cooked all winter.
The day after tomorrow we have planned for the lower 40 -- HURRAY! Here, OK that means opening the windows for the first time since April, taking long walks through the color of our unbridled sweetgums, dogwoods, maples and obligations under sliding acorns in the leaves, and trying not to step on the sticks.
In anticipation that I decided to try this recipe. WOW! Delicious, a keeper! Very different from the usual beef stew.
I added an oxtail of wealth (in fact, my husband, who had sent grocery shopping, bought a small package of stew meat instead a large one, so ...), 2 shakes McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning spices and a sprig of fresh rosemary from the garden, and some as a thickener oatmeal.
After browning the meat and Combine all ingredients in the pan, I dropped everything except potatoes and carrots in the crock pot for 5 hours. Added on vegetables during the last hour. Fantastic! Thanks for publish it.
